A Republic, located in southeastern Africa, its economy based on agriculture
and mining (mainly copper and chrome).
Formerly the state of RHODESIA. In March 1978 an agreement between Rhodesian
prime minister and moderate group of black leaders was signed to form a black
majority ruled state, however unrecognized by Great Britain. On April 18th,
1980, a form of independence was agreed upon, the state renamed Republic of
Zimbabwe and remaining in the British Commonwealth (see GREAT BRITAIN (U.K.)).
First stamps as Zimbabwe issued in 1980. Annual output about 20.
