Former Sultanate on southeastern Arabian Peninsula. Composed of the Sultanate
of MUSCAT and the Imamate of Oman. Stamps were issued between
1966-1970, when the Sultan was overthrown and the state was renamed Sultanate of
Oman (see OMAN, SULTANATE). Prior to 1966 it had a Postal Administration
agreement with Great Britain (see BRITISH AGENCIES).
