Republic, located in southeastern Europe.
Economy mainly based on agriculture, manufacturing ,mining and wood products.
Formerly under German Occupation, territory in YUGOSLAVIA. During World War II
became temporarily part of BULGARIA, which by that time was collaborating with
the Germans. In 1944, towards the end of the war, the Bulgarians turned against
GERMANY and German troops invaded Macedonia until the German withdrawal.
International recognition of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia's
(FYROM) independence from Yugoslavia in 1991.
Stamps were issued during 1944 and from 1992. Annual output about 35.
