A former Colony of FRANCE in central Africa, formerly part of FRENCH CONGO. It
became a separate colony in 1904 and in 1910 conjoined to the colonies of GABON
and CONGO (which were also formerly parts of French Congo) to form the colony of
FRENCH EQUATORIAL AFRICA and remained part of it until 1958. Until 1920 it was
known as Ubangi-Shari-Chad, then separated into Ubangi-Shari and CHAD (TCHAD).
In 1958 it became an Autonomous Republic and since 1960 fully independent as the
CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC. Stamp issuing between 1915-1933.
