Information
A seaport in Greece, Alexandroupolis of today. A French Post Office (within the
Turkish Empire - 'Levant') operated in Dedeagatz from 1874, using stamps of
FRANCE until 1893 when stamps with overprint or inscription 'Dedeagh' first
appeared. In 1913 GREECE (HELLAS) overtook Dedeagatz and that same year ceded to
BULGARIA, under whose rule it remained until 1918. Stamps for the French Post
Office were issued between 1893-1903 and it closed in 1914. Stamps for the Greek
occupation were issued in 1913, overprints on stamps of Bulgaria.
