An Emirate located on a peninsula in the Persian Gulf between Bahrain and
Trucial Oman. Petroleum is its main production and source of income.
Since 1916 a Sheikdom under British protection. Until starting own stamp issues
in 1957, stamps of MUSCAT were in use. Independent since 1971.
