bauxite are exported.
A former crown colony of GREAT BRITAIN (U.K.), BRITISH GUIANA, which gained full
independence on May 26th, 1966 and renamed as Guyana. On February 23rd, 1970
became a republic, a member of the British Commonwealth.
First stamps issued in 1966. Indirect UPU membership since April 1st 1877,
direct since 22nd, march 1967. Annual output about 300. The high production mainly
aimed at the philatelic market, with no postal actual need.
