Formerly an independent Arab Sultanate located in southeastern part of the
Arabian Peninsula with an Indian Postal administration. From December 1947 under
Pakistani Postal administration using Pakistani stamps until March 31st 1948.
From April 1st 1948 until April 29th 1966 under British Postal administration
using stamps of the British Postal Agencies in Eastern Arabia (see
BRITISH AGENCIES). In 1966 it became part of the MUSCAT AND OMAN Sultanate,
today part of the Sultanate of Oman (see OMAN, SULTANATE).
